Who is CMG?
CMG markets itself as an online trading and investment service. Its public site is presented at https://www.cmgau.com/. It claims to be based in Saint Vincent and the Grenadines. As with most operations of this kind, the polished front end conceals a lack of the basic protections a real, regulated broker is required to provide.
Is CMG regulated?
We could find no evidence that CMG holds a valid licence from any recognised financial regulator. Trading client funds without authorisation is one of the strongest indicators of a scam — there is no regulator to complain to, and no protection for your money.
Red flags we identified
- No verifiable licence from a recognised financial regulator
- Opaque or anonymous corporate ownership
- Account dashboards that show “gains” with no real market exposure
- No credible physical address or verifiable corporate record
- Withdrawals reportedly blocked behind “taxes,” “fees” or account “upgrades”
Our analysis
CMG seems to have copied the registration and licensing information of a legitimate broker, Axi, to appear genuine. Our close comparison suggests that CMG only replaced the branding name with their own when copying such information. In addition, while we found a CMG AUSTRALIA PTY LTD on the register of the Australian Securities and Investments Commission (ASIC), a representative authorized by Axi, the appointment was ceased in 2019. We suspect this is a case of identity theft. Investors should exercise extreme caution.
Can you recover money lost to CMG?
If you have deposited with CMG, do not pay any further “fees” to withdraw — that is part of the trap. Funds sent to operations like this can sometimes be traced on-chain and pursued through the exchanges and processors that received them. Whether recovery is realistic depends on how you paid and how quickly you act.
